Hen's Day Out

Today was the long awaited for Hen's Day Out! =) My best friend and I drove alllll the way to the hills.. Pickering Brook and pampered ourselves for an hour or so.

The place was in the middle of the forest.. called Hidden Valley Day Spa.. Gawrsh it was definitely worth the drive and the moolah spent!!! Hidden Valley was sooooo serene. We were soo oooo excited when we arrived. It did not fail our expectations. The only downside is that it was too short!!! Wayyyyy too short. We did not want to leave our beds!!!
We arrived and changed into our sarongs. Then we had a quick foot soak, with peppermint smell salt.. To get rid of the stinky smell tee hee. Then we went in and started on the treatment. So nice... Mmm I kept on telling myself to stay awake and enjoy the pampering haha So I was drifiting in and out.. the music was serene and so peaceful. The ladies who were doing our facial were very gentle. Though they were a little bit loud when they were changing water or getting towels etc.
The treatment was definitely different to what we've experienced. They had this hot wax thing... but it was very nice feeling. And then they massaged our face with cold stones! And by cold, they mean FREEZING! haha But it was still very interesting.. wonder what is the purpose of that??? After the treatment they gave us a choc and bottle of water.. And we quickly took photos ahha Inside and outside of the place.

We then went to have lunch.. And of course another photo opportunity! Do I look relaxed?? =)
Last night was a gathering at work mate's place. It was such a nice place!!! Floor boards.. comfy furniture... And wooden book cases. Just sooo homely! Work mate's sister was there too and she's such a lovely person to talk to, just like her sister! hehehe And workmate's partner was there too. It was very interesting to talk to him about his Japanese sword passion. He was saying how the "shrrrin" sound they make in the movies like Kill Bill or Last Samurai.. All fake fake fake haha It's even more interesting to talk to him because he's working in the film/tv industry in a post-production company. SOOO cool to speak to him and about how things work. Apparently, they mostly shoot scenes during the day and it's up to the post-production people to turn it into night!!! Amazing!!! And he was saying how sometimes you can tell how crappy a job was haha Too much blue or over saturation with one particular colour.. etc. Soo technical. Then he started talking about the opening scene of Swordfish. With the explosion and the ball bearings. He said his mate did that... just a short scene took like months! ANDDDD in laymen's terms... that segment had like 175000 LAYERS in Photoshop! Of course they didn't use Photoshop, they use some other spiffy software. Jaw dropping stuff!!!!

I was meant to leave early.. but we ended up leaving at 11.30pm. Just had such a good time getting to know more about my work mate and her partner. They're such a lovely couple and just soooooo cultured!

UNFORTUNATELY...... mishap happened. We were talking in the lounge and another work mate looked towards the kitchen and said "Are you cooking something?". We went.. nooo. Oppa and I turned to look and said "Is it meant to be that bright over there?". So we walked.. and went "Shit!" One of the candles caught on fire!!!!! It was in a glass but guess it just burnt to the end and the glass broke and yeah things caught on fire!! The Japanese sword that was sitting near the candles got burnt. And the partner was upset because it was expensive collection as well. But he was very well composed and he didn't chuck a psycho. He swore but that's to be expected. The sweetest thang was... my workmate said "oh really sorry it's all my fault". The partner says "no it's not! it's not your fault! it's the bloody candles". So let that be a lesson to y'all kids. If you want to burn candles.. put it where you see it!!

Oppa and I helped to scrap the wax off the cabinet and floorboard. Others were drunk and were only like "Ohhhh was there a fire?". And went back to their drink.. sheesh.

Then tonight, Oppa's sailing crew from the late 90s held a Xmas gathering. Such a nice place again!!!! Mannnn I can't wait to decorate my own place! Had good time chit chatting to them. The hostess also invited her high school mates as well as uni. So it was a good mix. Talked to a few of them and they're so Aussie!!! They were like talking about bands that I've never heard of. They all listen to Triple J. It felt like I was talking to my workmates haha They always mumble some bands/artists that I've never heard of. Give me RnB/Hip Hop any day!!!!!

Yawn

Xmas... got lunch bbq.. hopefully it won't be too hot. It's a bit windy tonight so hopefully tomorrow will be cooler??? Tomorrow is a day of cleaning up I reckon.. and of course wrapping presents =)

Got nothing else planned for my holidays. Except perhaps a wedding rehearsal.. yet to be determined! Argh.. almost summer school time =(

Ooooooo on Thurs, bought tix to go to NZ with boss!! Oh my goodness gracious!!! Going to be an interestin gtrip! 3 days and it'll cost $1200! :O I brought up the courage and asked my boss "You mentioned you wanted to talk to me more about my role". As a hint to say "you also said you wanted to talk about my pay!". Well he got the hint ahahah He will re-look in Jan after the new marketing director has had a talk when she comes over to Perth in early Jan. I've got summer school so I hope he's not going to be grudgy. He made a comment during the company Xmas party which I found a bit hurtful. He jokingly said that I only work part time and that he pays for half of my MBA anyway coz I'm hardly ever there! I was a bit flabbergasted, didn't know whether to laugh or cry. That kinda dampened my mood.. And my feeling... *sigh*
