The Biggest Crush!

On the way to work this morning, Nova FM was discussing the climax of the high school years - the school ball. And they were saying how exciting it is to get all dolled up, ask a certain someone to go etc etc.. That brought back memories of my high school ball and I started grinning and my heart was thumping. I was like.. BOY! I must have had a REALLY good time *guffaws*

Our school was a tiny school so we always have combined Year 11 and Year 12, to cut the cost. So I got to experience the excitement one year earlier =) But that was not the main thing, the thing about going to the ball back then.. was to see my the guy who I had the biggest crush on for like... 2 years!!

Since year 10, that was the only thing on my mind (apart from school work of course!) When I read through my diary for that period, it always started off with "Oh I saw him today!" or "Oh his arm brushed against mine during band practice" or "My gawd! He smiled at me!!!" ahah How sad??? But that was what I looked forward to every day for 2 years. And it definitely helped when both of us were involved in concert band =) And no, he was not the reason why I joined up. I like music so I took up clarinet and joined the band! Some fun times actually! Fortunately, we weren't perceived as nerds =) *phew* Orr so we thought *guffaws*

ANYWAY

School balls. I remember the excitement. I was going to go with a bunch of friends regardless of his presence there. So naturally, I was over the moon when my reliable source told me he was going. That was a huge surprise coz you wouldn't have picked him to be the "party" type =P

So my best friend and I got dolled up, all excited. And that was the first time I wore my contact lenses in public. Yes, I wanted to surprise people so I got used to my contacts AFTER school. How stupid huh? hahaha

We rocked up in our little car (not in a limo haha we did that for our year 12 ball) and we had fun. The biggest moment was when I sat around on the table with friends resting after we've danced crazy, when my crush approached me and asked me to dance. I remember being flabbergasted and was so shocked that I can't remember how I got onto the dance floor with him. Heck, I don't even remember what song we danced to! My friends were like nudging each other like crazy. (haha Thinking about this now makes me all red and excited)

We got onto the dance floor, he held me close and I was like "oh my gawd oh my gawd". My best friend had her camera that night and she took a really nice shot of us. I still have that photo sitting nicely in my album. My friend also blew it up to like A3 size haha

After the dance, I scurried off the dance floor and left the poor boy there. I felt sooooo stupid! Then another song came on and my friends went over and asked him to dance with me coz it was my fave song (A Kiss from the Rose - Seal). Another embarassing moment!!! I was whinging to my friends that he only asked me to dance coz my friends asked him to. They said, the 2nd time yes but not the 1st time! That was out of his own free will! Now THAT got me more excited haha That night, we danced three times... *jaw drops* The best ball I've ever been to I reckon ahah

Enough reminiscing?? Nope! haha That then brought me back memories from the last concert band performance night with my high school crush coz he was graduating.

At the end of the concert night, we were just bidding farewells. I nudged him and said "yeah see you around" and then he gave me a HUGE hug. Gawrsh.. afterwards, I was beaming like there was no tomorrow. A mum next to me winked and said "aren't you a lucky girl". And apparently, this is from my sis, during the hug my mum was like going "oh my gawd! look look!" and smiling with joy. That was about the ONLY time when my mum smiled and get all happy when a guy hugged me hahaha It was down hills from there and she almost disowned me when I started dating in uni. Silly huh!
